Applying to Hult's Doctorate Program

What we look for in a doctoral candidate

We assess candidates individually based on the strength of their profile, research proposal, and personal assessment interview. Your drive, ambition, willingness to learn, and growth mindset are important indicators of your success here, and we value them as much as proven career achievements.

How to Apply

01 Activate your profile

  • Go to the online application
  • Enter your personal details, recent employment history, and education history
  • Pay the $150 USD application fee to activate your profile, and your personal Enrollment Advisor will be in touch

02 Application consultation

A member of the enrollment team will call you to discuss your suitability for the program and guide you through the next steps.

03 Complete your application

Submit the following documents in Hult's online application. A conditional acceptance may still be given prior to submission of test scores.

  • Current resume/CV
  • Research proposal (maximum 4,000). The research proposal is a key element of your application process and great effort must be made in writing this document to improve your likelihood of acceptance into the program. Our enrollment team will be available to support you at this stage through constant and constructive feedback on your proposal
  • Three academic or professional references
  • A copy of your master's degree in a business-related field. Candidates with master’s in non-business fields are required to submit 12 credits of business courses
  • Transcripts (in English) from all universities attended
  • Evidence of English proficiency, ie., TOEFL/ IELTS, Duolingo English Test (DET), if required (your enrollment advisor will let you know if you are required to submit this)

04 Personal assessment interview

  • We will assess your profile, goals, and overall fit for the program via video interview
  • We will also review your English proficiency during the interview

05 Admissions decision

If your personal assessment interview is successful, your application will go to the Research Committee for final review. The committee meets once a month to consider applications. Their goal is to build a select cohort of ambitious professionals who will not only excel at solving business problems but will also nurture and support each other through the program

06 Submit outstanding documents

If you are admitted by the committee, you will need to submit any outstanding required documentation—such as your test scores, letters of recommendation, or transcripts—before you are fully admitted and able to start the program

  • 8-10 years of work experience (at least 5 years of managerial/executive experience)
  • Master’s degree in a business-related field. Candidates with master’s in non-business fields are required to submit 12 credits of business courses.
  • Proof of proficiency in English
